Merlin is my first black tomcat. Before I knew that I would breed cats, I longed for a black tomcat for a long long time. But it was not so easy to find a black tomcat. I mean a black tomcat without a white paw or any white spot. But then an employee of a veterinarian in Spandau (district of Berlin) told me, that in a farmhouse in Niedersachsen (state of Germany) a household cat got black offspring. At the age of six weeks he was brought to Berlin and temporarily lived with the employee, who also has cats and a doberman. Already with 6 weeks Merlin was very self-confident. When he was hungry and wanted to eat, he did so and did not allow anybody to disturb him nor the dog! By the way cat-food did not taste him, dog-food was much more interesting for him. With a heavy heard I gave him into my mother’s household one year ago (spring of 2004), because her cat Baileys had no playfellow. Indeed my mother just lives 1,5 km far from my home, but up to today each meter which keeps me away from Merlin hurts me. Naturally I visit Merlin regularly and he always greets my at the door of flat. Whatever he does in the moment I come: Whether he snoozes, plays or eats, Merlin leaves all just to say “Hello” to me. |
